I want to start this post with honesty. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve known this space as Purposeful Happiness. That name came from a good place—it reflected what I was chasing at the time: more joy, more intention, more meaning. But as I’ve grown, wrestled with my own imperfections, and tried to live out the ideas I write about, I realized something was missing.
What was missing was clarity.
Not perfect clarity—not having every answer or seeing 20 steps down the path. Just enough clarity to take the next step forward. And that’s where the name Clear Enough comes from.
This rebrand isn’t just a new coat of paint or a catchy title. It’s about shifting focus to what I’ve found really changes lives: learning to take imperfect, courageous action even when the path ahead is foggy. It’s about becoming clear enough—not perfect, not certain, but enough to begin, enough to be heard, enough to break free.
What Clear Enough Means to Me
For so much of my life, I believed I had to wait for perfection before I could act. I thought I had to know all the answers, have all the preparation done, and feel ready before I could take the leap. But the truth is, that’s a lie.
You can’t improve something that doesn’t exist. You can’t grow a project, an idea, or a version of yourself that never makes it off the ground.
Clear Enough means I don’t have to know how every conversation will go before I speak up. I don’t have to know the outcome of every project before I start. I don’t have to be fearless before I try. I just have to know what my values are, point myself in that direction, and take the next right step.
Clarity grows as we move. The action creates the insight, not the other way around.
When Imperfect Clarity Changed My Life
One of the biggest turning points in my life was when I chose to go to law school. And to be clear: I did not want to be a lawyer.
I’d always dreamed of being a therapist, but when my wife and I sat down to look at the numbers, we realized that career path wouldn’t support the kind of family life we wanted. That crushed me. It felt like a dead end.
Then, in a moment I still don’t fully understand, I felt what I believe was inspiration—a voice that wasn’t a voice, telling me to go to law school. And my first reaction was anger. I argued with God: I don’t want to do this. Lawyers are the worst. But the feeling wouldn’t leave. Finally, out of sheer stubbornness or maybe faith, I applied.
I studied for the LSAT. I got into several schools. I even got scholarships. And still, I didn’t want to be a lawyer. But I kept moving forward, one imperfect step at a time.
Ten years later, I look back and realize that decision changed the entire course of my life. I love the work I get to do now. I love making a difference as in-house counsel. I still don’t know all the reasons why that was the path I had to take, but I know this: waiting for certainty would have left me stuck. Taking the next right step, even angry and uncertain, changed everything.
That’s what Clear Enough is about.
Why We Don’t Need Perfection to Act
Fear tells us we have to be ready before we can start. Depression whispers that we’re losers and everyone’s about to figure it out. ADHD distracts us from hard projects until the last minute. Imposter syndrome insists we don’t belong in the rooms we’re already in.
If I waited until those voices went away, I’d never do anything.
The truth is, things rarely go exactly the way you plan. Even if you prepare perfectly, life is messy. But when you act anyway—when you send the email, start the project, or take the exam—you give yourself the gift of feedback. That feedback makes you sharper, wiser, and clearer for the next step.
The cost of waiting is too high: regret, lost opportunities, wasted years chasing “shoulds” instead of what you actually want. I’ve seen it in myself and in others—drifting because certainty never came.
The way forward isn’t perfection. It’s imperfect action.
The Values Guiding This Rebrand
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I think about values a lot. As I shaped Clear Enough, I wanted it to be anchored in five guiding values that define how I want this space to feel and how I make decisions:
Freedom – not political freedom, but the personal freedom to choose your life instead of being bound by what others say you should want.
Growth – not sprinting for someone else’s finish line, but steadily becoming more of who you want to be.
Happiness – not shallow distraction, but the genuine, rewarding sense that comes from meaningful progress.
Integrity – refusing to pretend I’m an expert with all the answers. I’m learning too. I’ll be honest about the mess.
Thoughtfulness – pausing to consider the impact of my words and actions. Imperfect, yes, but intentional.
These values are the guardrails for the journey we’re on together.
Who This Is For
The people I picture when I sit down to write or record are young-to-mid-career professionals—25 to 40 years old—who have families, who’ve been in their jobs long enough to feel the burnout, who’ve started to suspect they’re climbing the wrong mountain.
You’ve been working hard, maybe even achieving “success” by the world’s standards. But you feel stuck. You’re making your boss rich but wondering when your own life will feel like yours. You’re balancing work, family, and your own goals—and something has to give.
If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
The Three Pillars of Clear Enough
To guide this journey, I’ve built the framework of Clear Enough around three pillars:
Begin – clarity to take imperfect action. Because you can’t improve what doesn’t exist.
Heard – clarity in your voice and communication. Because being understood matters more than being polished.
Free – clarity that breaks you from “shoulds,” imposter syndrome, and self-sabotage. Because you can’t chase a life you don’t actually want.
Each pillar reflects struggles I’ve lived through and continue to wrestle with. Together, they form the backbone of what you’ll hear in the podcast and read here on the blog.
What I Hope You’ll Feel Here
I don’t want this space to feel like a lecture from a guru on a stage. I want it to feel like a conversation with a friend climbing the same mountain you are. I’m not above you—I’m beside you.
I hope when you read or listen, you feel three things:
Encouraged – that you’re not alone, and others feel the same struggles.
Equipped – with tools and stories you can apply in your own life.
Connected – like you’re part of a community where it’s safe to try, fail, and grow.
An Invitation
You don’t have to be perfect to be here. You don’t need to have your life figured out or your five-year plan color-coded. You just need to be clear enough to take the next step.
That’s what this rebrand is about. That’s what this podcast and blog will be about. And that’s what I want for you—to have the courage to start where you are, with what you know, and take one step toward the life you actually want.
So, welcome to Clear Enough. I’m glad you’re here. Let’s take this step together.
